For me, painting is as much about controlled play as a means of expressing emotion and making sense of the world. Inspiration comes from various, random sources.

What I like about abstract painting is the freedom to juxtapose colours and shapes. I use acrylics for their vibrant colours and the luminous effect they produce. My paintings are often built up with solid blocks of colour, with lines and shapes added to give structure.

Collage is another medium I work with. I arrange scraps of painted paper into structured compositions which often produce serendipitous results. Sometimes paintings and collages inform and influence each other.
